2020 Indianapolis 500 - Like Never Before.

To say the 2020 Indianapolis 500 was strange is the understatement of the century. High pressure moments like pole day, drivers getting in cars on the grid, fly over, green flag and the first couple minuets of victory circle had normalcy for me. Those are moments I’m hyper focused on the moment and never notice fans even with a sell out crowd. Every other moment of the day was just so strange. We all know that fans make the Indy 500, I now know what that really means.

The 500 the way we all know it just didn’t happen. This is at no fault of all the hard working people at IMS. The world was just not ready for a proper Indianapolis 500 this year, as much as we all wanted it to happen. I’m just happy we had 33 cars and ran 500 miles! That’s a serious victory i’ll never forget in all of this!

The most difficult part of the event for me is photographing people wearing a mask, I miss smiles and frowns when people are happ, focused or upset. This year also gave me roughly 20 seconds per driver without a mask on, to see them, to see who they are. The only time they had face exposed was when they were putting on helmets.

Here’s what I was able to come up with.
